Babar Azam broke the record of former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene during today’s innings. Mahela Jayawardene scored 201 runs as captain in the 2012 World Cup.
Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam also became the highest run scorer in any one World T20 edition.

Before Babar Azam, the award went to Salman Butt, who scored 223 runs in 2010.

Virat Kohli scored the most runs in a World Cup edition of 319 in 2014.
Babar Azam is also the highest-scoring batsman in the current World Cup edition, second-ranked England’s Jose Butler has scored 240 runs so far in this edition, while Sri Lanka’s Charitha Asalanka has scored 231 runs. ۔
