Shaza Fatima Khawaja, a member of the Muslim League-N, introduced the measure in the House, and the National Assembly authorised it for further change to Article 184/3 (Powers of Spontaneous Notice).
The bill’s text states that a larger bench should be set up to decide review petitions for judgements and orders under Article 184-3 and that the review petitioner should be allowed to choose the attorney he wants to represent him.
The bill’s text specifies that a review application may be submitted within two months after the decision or order’s issuance; this provision will also apply to judgements and orders rendered under section 184-3 prior to the law’s passage.
The bill’s wording states that appeals of previous judgements must be made within 30 days of the law’s taking effect.
