Defeated in the T20 World Cup, the Bangladesh team has suffered a major blow and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed Shakib Al Hasan’s injury and his unavailability for further matches in the tournament.
Bangladesh’s Dr Debashish Chaudhry said in a statement that Shakib suffered a hamstring injury in his back leg while fielding in the match against the West Indies.
He said that due to this injury, the all-rounder will not be able to participate in the rest of India’s matches in the T20 World Cup, while he will not be able to play until the reports come.
It should be noted that in the said match against West Indies, Bangladesh was defeated by 3 runs after a thrilling match.
This was Bangladesh’s third consecutive defeat in the Super 12 round after which they have been eliminated from the semi-finals.
Shakib Al Hasan, the world number one all-rounder in the T20 rankings, was instrumental in helping Bangladesh, who lost their first match in the qualifying round, to the Super 12 round.
After losing the first match, Bangladesh needed a victory against Oman and Papua New Guinea and Shakib played well in both the matches to lead his team to victory and won the Man of the Match award in both the matches. ۔
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has said it will not seek a replacement for Shakib.
Bangladesh will play their next match in the T20 World Cup on November 2 against South Africa.
